Merry Midfield Christmas

Burnley beat Watford 2-0 at home last Saturday in what was our final pre-Christmas game, and it was a game when the midfield players shone.
We had different players win the man of the match and the player ratings but the same three midfielders took the top three positions in both.
Hannibal was the man of the match winner, his first since joining the Clarets. He did so with 35% of the vote, followed very closely by Josh Cullen in second place and Josh Brownhill who came third; they had 29% and 27% shares of the vote respectively. Jaidon Anthony, with just 3% of the vote, took fourth place.
In the player ratings. Cullen was the winner with a rating of 8.82 out of ten. Brownhill was second having scored 8.53 and Hannibal came in third with 8.02. Fourth place in the ratings went to CJ Egan-Riley with a rating of 8.02 out of ten.
For just the second time this season every player rating higher than seven and five of the eleven players picked up their highest ratings of the season.
It's all given Cullen eight points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with seven points for Hannibal, five for Brownhill and one point each for Anthony and Egan-Riley.
The two central defenders remain a long way clear at the top of the table but below them, Brownhill has now moved back into third place but just one point ahead of all of Cullen, Connor Roberts and Jeremy Sarmiento. James Trafford is just two points further behind.
The next vote will be underway tomorrow following our game against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
