Burnley may have just been handed a transfer idea by former midfielder Steven Defour, who believes Club Brugge star Ardon Jashari is a payer worth looking at this summer.

Voetbal Primeur cover comments from the former Burnley man today as he praises the midfielder for his performances this season.

They explain that the 22-year-old is the name on everyone's lips at Brugge at this moment in time, earning praise from Pep Guardiola earlier this season and impressing last week in the defeat to Aston Villa.

Many believe he is the best player in the Jupiler Pro League and the Premier League is scouting him, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Newcastle, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Brighton all sending scouts to watch him against Unai Emery's side.

They may all be watching again this evening as they take on Villa again in the Champions League, with VP arguing that a transfer 'seems almost inevitable' at this point.

Defour, who made 51 appearances in the Premier League himself during his time at Burnley, can certainly see Jashari playing in England's top flight.

“He is the best player in our competition and perhaps even one of the best of the last ten years," he said.

"His combination of energy, aggression and calmness on the ball is unique. He reads the game excellently and is technically strong enough to compete at the highest level.

“The time when it was all about running and pounding is long gone.”

Perhaps his former club Burnley would be wise to think about a move, though. They're currently 3rd in the Championship and promotion to the Premier League looks within grasp.

Scott Parker's side will surely want to strengthen if they do make their return and Jashari could be an ideal signing, at least as far as Defour is concerned.
