Hertha Berlin's Jonjoe Kenny has confirmed Sheffield United want to sign him immediately and he wants the move to Championship side.
Florian Plettenberg provides comments from the full-back today made in conversation with Sky Germany.
Several reports have stated that Sheffield United are chasing the full-back's signature this month in a deal worth around €1m.
He's in the final six months of his deal with the German side and they're happy to sell now and receive a fee rather than lose him on a free.
A report earlier today stated Sheffield United wanted him signed 'immediately'. It added that there was a plan for Kenny to play his final game for Hertha this week, say goodbye to the fans and then sign for the Blades.
It added that Kenny was keen on the move and a return to England after two and a half years in Germany following a move from Everton in July 2022. He also had a loan spell in Germany with Schalke from 2020 to 2021.
Now he wants to return to England and Sheffield United, who sit top of the Championship at this moment in time, confirming as much to Sky.
"Yes, it is true that Sheffield want to sign me immediately, and I want to take this step as well," he said.
"I truly love Hertha BSC and owe the club a great deal. It was exactly the right move for me at the time, and from day one, I have always given 100% for the success of the club, and I still do.
"Over the past few years, my girlfriend and I have become parents, and many things have changed for us off the pitch. I really want to take this opportunity for my family now and return to our home country together.
"Sheffield United offer me this option, and I sincerely hope that the clubs can reach an agreement, allowing me to leave Berlin with immense gratitude and on good terms."
