Roll on January transfer window

Cesare Casadei is expected to be among the very first players making moves away from Chelsea in the January transfer window, with plenty of previously reported interest from the Serie A in the former Inter Milan prospect.

And according to Gianluca Di Marzio, we may even have the first concrete offer for the young midfielder, with Torino FC submitting an "initial offer".

In a most surprising claim, this offer isn't just a loan, but an actual transfer and with Chelsea holding a buyback clause, even. While no specific amounts are specified for either part of this potential deal, just the fact that we're talking about an actual transfer makes this a promising situation.

The report compares it to the deal that Como got on Nico Paz from Real Madrid (€6m with a buyback), which would represent a decent loss on our books (€15+5m we gave to Inter), but I'm not sure we could really all that much better considering Casadei's lack of playing time in 2024 (both in the second half of last season after his recall from Enzo Maresca's Leicester City and now in the first half of this season under Enzo Maresca himself at Chelsea).

Casadei's about to turn 22 in ten days, and that makes it imperative that he stops stagnating his development. He's under contract with Chelsea through 2028, but that actually makes his contract one of the shorter ones in the first-team squad at the moment.
