Women's team go out of cup

Chesterfield FC Women bowed out of the County Cup this afternoon, after a 6-0 defeat away to Derby County U21. The hosts took the lead in the seventh minute as their striker broke free of the Spireites’ defence before slotting the ball home. Derby doubled their lead in the tenth minute from the penalty spot. Rhianne Carroll went the right way but the ball was just out of her reach. Derby added a third in the 15th minute when the Spireites failed to clear their lines and the hosts capitalised. Five minutes later, Millie Pinkney made a brilliant last-ditch tackle to deny a fourth. The 31st minute brought more bad news for the Spireites as Kadi Townsend had to leave the pitch on a stretcher and was taken to hospital with a serious knee injury. All at Chesterfield FC are wishing her well. Due to a depleted squad, this left the Spireites with no further substitutions to make. As the Spireites settled back into the game, Derby added a fourth deep into stoppage time to make it 4-0 at the break.
