'Challenging': Anthony Elanga shares what Nuno Espirito Santo is doing in Forest pre-season that's so tough

Nottingham Forest’s pre-season tour in Spain is now coming to a close with the game on Friday night marking the conclusion of their time in the sun.

It has been a successful spell so far with Forest having won one and drawn one in their two games against Championship opposition.

Nuno Espirito Santo has to be pleased with what he has seen from the Reds this summer both on and off the pitch.

The Portuguese manager has had the backing of Evangelos Marinakis in the market with five players having been signed already.

Forest remain unbeaten on the pitch having beat Chesterfield in their friendly before the trip to Spain.

And it seems what Nuno has been doing on the training pitch may well be paying off when the Reds have taken to their friendly games.

What Anthony Elanga said about pre-season training

Forest have now been in Spain for just over a week with their draw against Sunderland marking their first friendly on the continent.

Forest came out with the win on Tuesday against Millwall but they hobbled out of the game with Elliot Anderson picking up an injury issue.

One final game awaits Forest on Friday night against La Liga 2 side Elche

But the trip to Spain has certainly proven to be a worthwhile one with Anthony Elanga sharing details of what has been done to prepare the Reds for the new season.

Speaking to Sky Sports from Spain, the Sweden international has revealed just how hard Nuno has been working the players in the 40C heat.

“We’ve been doing double sessions in this heat as well – I find it really good to be able to train in this heat,” said Elanga.

“Because when you go back to England, it won’t be as hot. It’s challenging, but it’s going to be worth in the end.

“Being an area like this brings us together more. We’re able to bond more, and I think that will help us on the pitch.”

Anthony Elanga ready to continue repaying Forest’s trust

Elanga has now had a full season playing at the City Ground following his move last summer from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old was able to provide an impressive return of five goals and nine assists in the Premier League alone for Forest.

And this has seen the likes of Newcastle United show a real interest in signing Elanga this summer.

But the winger has shown no indication of viewing his future elsewhere as he’s said he’s ready to go again this season at Forest.

“This is the decision I wanted deep down [to join Forest] because I felt I needed to take that challenge and play more regularly,” he added.

“I’m just grateful Forest were able to give me the opportunity and hopefully I was able to repay them last season and I want to be able to repay them this season.”
