'I am told': What journalist has heard after Evangelos Marinakis talks with Edu about Nottingham Forest role
Yesterday at 07:00 AM
Nottingham Forest are riding the crest of a wave this season at the start of the 2024/25 campaign and sit third after 10 games.
The Reds are in fine form on the pitch and there could soon be some major news to report away from the green bit too.
It’s been claimed that Evangelos Marinakis is keen to appoint Edu Gaspar into a new role to oversee all three of the clubs that he currently owns.
Forest are just one of the three outfits that Marinakis claims as his own, with Olympiacos and Rio Ave the others to benefit from his ownership.
Nuno Espirito Santo has made a fine start to his first full season on Trentside and now, some changes could be made in the boardroom.

Journalist provides information on Edu to Nottingham Forest
This would be a fascinating appointment and would see Forest get someone involved who has done wonders at Arsenal over the past few years.
With Forest very keen to get this one completed, we spoke to HITC Football journalist Graeme Bailey who gave us the latest on Marinakis and his pursuit of Edu.
He exclusively told Nottingham Forest News: “Edu has seemingly been open to options for a number of weeks and Evangelos Marinakis was quickly made aware and jumped on it.
“He holds Edu in very high regard and wants him badly, and the role he sees is an overarching one that will likely be director of footballing operations – something along those lines, similar to what Jurgen Klopp has just agreed to with Red Bull.
“Obviously Marinakis has Olympiakos and Rio Ave as well as Forest, so there is plenty of scope for Edu and I am told Marinakis thinks he has got him and is confident of announcing a deal sooner rather than later.”
Edu can help Forest go to the next level
This would be quite the statement of intent for Marinakis to get Edu on board to work across his three football clubs.
The former Arsenal midfielder has been brilliant at what he does during his time in North London and he’d be a huge loss to them.

Naturally, he’s not got every decision right when it comes to transfers but he’s helped the Gunners sign some top players over the years.
Forest did great things in the market during the summer and hopefully, Edu can help the club make the next level and reach European football in the coming years.
Based on what Bailey has told us it sounds as though it will be a new role created and now it will be exciting to see if this one can get done.
