Report: Nottingham Forest make first move to sign exciting player mentored by Harry Kane

Nottingham Forest are already looking ahead to the January transfer window in a couple of months.
The Reds enjoyed a nice change of strategy in the transfer market during the summer, prioritising quality over quantity.
Several pundits and journalists have been forced to back down after lazy pre-season predictions based on Forest’s recruitment.
Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail has claimed that he’s changed his mind on Forest after initially slating the club for a lack of a plan in terms of the summer recruits.
Forest are currently third in the Premier League and now it appears that the club are going to target a different level of player when the window reopens.
Nottingham Forest open talks with Mathys Tel
Forest tried desperately to land a new striker during the January transfer window.
Santiago Gimenez rejected Forest, whilst Eddie Nketiah chose to join Crystal Palace after talks with Oliver Glasner.
Now, it would appear that a new striker isn’t necessarily the top priority for January – with Chris Wood scoring eight goals so far this season.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Forest have made contact with Bayern Munich to try and sign the talented winger Mathys Tel.
It’s claimed that the winger has no plans to leave the Bavarian giants on loan this winter but clubs are keeping tabs in case anything changes.
Forest will face competition for his services should he be allowed out either on loan or permanently, with Werder Bremen also keen.
The 19-year-old was signed by Bayern in 2022 from Rennes and he’s been trying to force his way into the reckoning in Munich ever since.
Tel has made seven appearances so far this season with just one of those coming as a starter in the Bundesliga.
In total, the teenager has scored 16 goals and claimed six assists from 76 appearances at his current club.
What Harry Kane said about Forest-linked Mathys Tel
Kane has spoken of how much he rates Tel since he signed for Bayern in the summer of 2023.
The England captain and record goalscorer is making waves in Munich and will hope to win a maiden trophy of his career this season.
He’s a huge fan of Tel and the Bavarian Football Network claims that he’s been acting as the ‘mentor’ for the talented youngster.
Kane also claimed: “He’s started the season really well. I like the way he trains. He’s always pushing himself and is fully committed. Every time he came in he made a difference and is very confident. We’ll need all our players this season.”
Nottingham Forest’s current wide options
Right now, it’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga in possession of the Forest spots out wide.
Hudson-Odoi has bagged twice this season – against Liverpool and West Ham – with Elanga still waiting for his first goal.
The Reds also moved to sign players to act as competition for the two players in the summer.
Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa have both made useful impacts from the bench and perhaps Tel would complement the current options.
Forest faced interest in Elanga from Newcastle on deadline day and perhaps Tel is viewed as an alternative should the Magpies up the ante in January.
