Nottingham Forest return to Premier League action on Monday with a clash against Crystal Palace, and Paul Merson has given his score line prediction.

Nuno Espirito Santo has had the chance to work with those who stayed behind during the international break to really finetune a few things.

Nottingham Forest will be sweating over the fitness of Morgan Gibbs-White, who was spotted on crutches during a day out in London recently.

However, his girlfriend did state that Gibbs-White has been told to wear them as a precaution.

It remains to be seen as to whether Gibbs-White will be fit in time, but he did appear to be missing from training ahead of the Crystal Palace clash.

Regardless, Paul Merson has made his prediction on what the outcome of Monday’s game will be.

Paul Merson predicts the outcome of Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace in the Premier League

Forest have surpassed expectations up until this point in the Premier League campaign, losing just once and securing one of the best defensive records.

However, a tough challenge awaits against Crystal Palace, who on their day can cause any team problems with Eberechi Eze running things.

Interestingly, Paul Merson has now given his weekly predictions for all Premier League games, including Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace.

Speaking in his column on Sportskeeda, Merson believes it will be 2-2.

“Crystal Palace are struggling full stop at the moment. But I don’t think they’re in a relegation battle, they should be fine from that perspective.

“When Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze click, they will be fine and safe. But if Leicester end up getting the win this weekend and Palace lose, that will become a concern.

“If that happens Leicester have a chance of staying up and then you start to wonder who could be the team that will go down instead of them. That could bring some pressure on Oliver Glasner and his men.

“But for now, I’m not too worried about Palace’s safety. They have goals in them and that should be enough since Nottingham Forest often struggle at home.

“Both teams will look to win this fixture and there will definitely be goals. So I’m going for another draw here.”

Crystal Palace’s record this season

Crystal Palace have had a torrid time of things to start the Premier League season, picking up just the one point from their opening seven games.

Eberechi Eze just hasn’t been able to influence things as much as Crystal Palace fans would have liked, and Mateta has struggled to score consistently.

However, the Reds have to look past their recent run of bad form, as they’re the kind of side who can just randomly click into gear and go on a run, just like we saw last season.

The formidable partnership of Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo will be tasked with keeping Mateta quiet, whilst Ryan Yates might have another man-marking job on his hands with Eze.
