Nottingham Forest are ramping up their recruitment drive and there will be players signed and players depart in the coming weeks.

The Reds had to raise £20 million in order to comply with PSR regulations and essentially avoid another points deduction.

Forest were docked four points last season for their financial demeanours and now it looks as though the danger has been averted this time around.

The Reds are set to offload a number of players and one in particular is set to be announced at a new club very soon.

News of another departure has been mooted today and it will see a centre-back leaving the football club.

When Moussa Niakhate is expected to leave Forest

News emerged last week that Moussa Niakhate was the subject of interest from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

The defender is a wanted man and now, talks have been successful between the Senegal defender and Lyon.

Fabrizio Romano has now claimed on X that the medical has been completed and Niakhate will officially be unveiled next week.

The 28-year-old is leaving Forest after two seasons on Trentside and the Reds will recoup over £20 million for his services.

Niakhate has struggled with some injury problems since he arrived at Forest and this move does make a lot of sense.

With Murillo in place at Forest, Niakhate is rarely considered the first choice and selling him makes a lot of sense this summer.

Forest need to dip into the transfer market

The Reds are edging closer to the signing of Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson and that should go through very soon.

Now, with Niakhate leaving, Forest need to make sure that they get their defensive ranks stocked before the season starts.

The player leaves a bit of a gap defensively and Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo will now surely welcome some reinforcements.

Niakhate would have been a useful player for Forest to keep at the club.

However, he will be easier to replace than one of the top stars would have been and if this helps the Reds comply with FFP then so be it.

Forest do have to get busy though and hopefully, some new recruits can come to the club to aid the defensive side of the team.
