Nottingham Forest went to Liverpool on Saturday last weekend and claimed a huge victory over the Anfield giants.

Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the only goal of the game and it ensured that Forest maintained their unbeaten start to 2024/25 in the Premier League.

Forest will head to Brighton this weekend looking to put on another show and claim another big three points against an in-form team.

Liverpool hadn’t conceded a goal prior to facing Forest and the team have to take heart and confidence from their latest performance.

The debate over Saturday continues to rumble on and there were many top performances to discuss from a Forest perspective against Liverpool.

Ever since Forest came back to the Premier League in 2022, the former Match of the Day pundit has regularly praised the club.

It seems as though he’s a big fan of Forest being in the Premier League and clearly sees the value of the team being in the division.

After Saturday, he’s been delivering his verdict on some of the Forest players, with Wright finding time to praise Reds star Murillo.

Another player caught his eye at the weekend though and he also made an intriguing comment about Ola Aina after the win on Merseyside.

He told the Wrighty’s House podcast: “Ola Aina, the right-back, his performance at Anfield was one of the best performances I’ve seen in the Premier League this season.”

It was Steve Cooper who landed Aina and he called the player ‘excellent’ for his efforts shortly after making his debut for the club.

Aina needs tying to a long-term contract

It wasn’t a surprise when Forest move to sign Aina to a new deal at the end of last season but it was a shock when it was announced that he’d only signed for one year.

Aina needs to be kept at the City Ground and he looks to be everything that is positive about Forest at the moment.

He’s clearly a big influence in the dressing room and seemingly enjoyed the celebrations after the 1-0 win over Liverpool at the weekend.

Forest have made some stellar additions for big money since returning to the Premier League but on a free transfer, Aina looks to be one of the most shrewd.

Now, it’s all about preservation and on current form other teams will be aware that Aina will be out of contract again next summer.

As a result, the club needs to act quickly and get Aina on a long-term deal as soon as possible to thwart off any potential suitors.
