Nottingham Forest are off to a great start in the Premier League this season.

The Reds occupy third place in the Premier League table and the team has made everyone stand up to take notice.

Several good wins have been secured of late, with three straight victories coming since the last international break.

Forest are in the position they’re in on merit and ultimately it’s only right that the team are getting their flowers right now.

Gary Lineker admitted he had changed his mind over his pre-season Forest prediction and other pundits are following suit.

One man who is in red-hot form is Forest striker Chris Wood.

Shay Given gave him a new nickname after the weekend’s performance and he’s in fine form leading the line for Forest.

Nedum Onuoha absolutely buzzing for Chris Wood

Things haven’t always been rosy for Wood throughout his career.

Thankfully, for Forest, he’s aged like a fine wine since Eddie Howe allowed him to join Forest from Newcastle for £15 million.

BBC pundit Nedum Onuoha has recalled a time when he played against Wood for QPR and heard the Leeds fans boo him on the opening day of the season.

He said on The Guardian Football podcast: “Within games that I have played, I never used to feel sorry for people – everyone is in their own situation.

“But, I did feel sorry for Chris Wood many years ago and to see him do well, I’m delighted.

“It was 2015, the first game of the season, it was Leeds against QPR and he was getting booed by the Leeds fans in the first game of the Championship season.

“Fast forward to now and he’s in the top three scorers in the Premier League. I’m so delighted for him.

“It’s remarkable to see Forest doing so well.”

Chris Wood record for Leeds United

Forest star Wood has come a long way since he played for Leeds earlier during his career.

Wood was far younger and a lot less experienced at that point and perhaps booing him sounds a bit harsh.

To say that Leeds like to boast the greatest fans in the world this does feel like poor form on their part a little bit.

Even more alarming is that Wood wasn’t actually that bad during his time playing at Elland Road.

He only ever played for the Whites in the Championship and bagged 44 goals from 88 appearances leading the line for the team.

Throughout his career, Wood has been a respected goalscorer in the second tier and the only reason for the angst when Forest signed him was the value and his age.

Still, he’s proved everybody wrong at Forest and is now one of the top goalscorers in the Premier League.

New contract talks could beckon for Wood at Forest and if that is forthcoming, it would be a perfect reward for a player who has worked hard to silence the critics.
