Nottingham Forest face Liverpool next up in the Premier League as the Reds look to claim a memorable double over the Anfield giants.

A goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi ensured Forest claimed a brilliant win at Liverpool back in September and the Reds remain the only team to beat Arne Slot’s men this season.

Forest beat Wolves last night to make it six successive victories in the Premier League and Liverpool will face a team riding the crest of a wave.

The Reds’ rise to the top four of the Premier League hasn’t gone unnoticed in the eyes of Slot either, with Liverpool linked with Elliot Anderson.

Now, it would appear that it’s not just the £35 million signing from Newcastle who is catching the eye of Liverpool ahead of the clash between the two teams.

Liverpool want Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are now also keeping close tabs on the Forest number 10 with the January transfer window upon us.

Jamie Carragher hailed Gibbs-White for his efforts against Wolves and he’s really started to shine since the start of December.

Forest signed Gibbs-White for an initial fee of £25 million with a string of add-ons given to Wolves when a number of milestones are met.

It does feel as though the Reds will need to qualify for Europe to stand any chance of keeping their top stars and even then it might not be quite enough.

Gibbs-White enjoyed his goal against Wolves last night though and naturally, he looks delighted to be captaining the Forest team at the moment.

Morgan Gibbs-White deserves new Forest contract

The man who captained Forest last night does have a number of years left on his existing contract but an extension wouldn’t go amiss.

Gibbs-White isn’t among the highest earning Forest players and ultimately he will want to be rewarded with the sort of salary that other players are collecting.

The 24-year-old doesn’t appear the sort to kick up a fuss over that sort of thing and he will simply want to keep playing football.

However, with Liverpool now showing interest among other big clubs, Gibbs-White could have a useful bartering chip when it comes to earning a new deal.

The Forest star has been brilliant for the last six weeks or so and on current form, the Reds must work to keep him at the club even longer than he’s already due to stay.
