Very few Nottingham Forest signings have made an impact quite like Nikola Milenkovic has.

The Reds snared Milenkovic from Fiorentina for £12 million during the summer transfer window – and he already looks like a real bargain.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed quite the start to life on Trentside and has quickly struck up a relationship with Murillo.

Milenkovic is the captain of Serbia now and last month during the international break he earned rave reviews for his performances.

Much like his compatriot Nemanja Vidic, Milenkovic looks tailor-made for the Premier League and the ex-Manchester United is a very positive role model for him.

Forest drew 1-1 with Chelsea at the weekend in a contest where many of the Reds performers produced the goods on the pitch.

Ally McCoist raved about goalkeeper Matz Sels after the game and it really was a tale of two goalkeepers at Stamford Bridge.

The central defender would be a tremendous captain for Forest and that is nothing against Ryan Yates and Morgan Gibbs-White.

To be captaining your country at 26 is quite special and Milenkovic clearly has leadership qualities.

On Sunday he did something quite brilliant as the game ticked towards a tenth minute of stoppage time.

With Forest having a man inferior following James Ward-Prowse getting sent off, some of the Reds stars went towards the corner to preserve the point.

Milenkovic was having none of that approach though. He was seen venting his frustration at Yates and Jota Silva as they tried to keep the ball in the corner and play for time.

The defender was seen suggesting that the Reds could still win the game and he had a point.

With just seconds remaining of injury time, a cross from Ola Aina found Silva unmarked but his header was brilliantly saved by Robert Sanchez in the Chelsea goal.

Milenkovic is Forest captain material

The big Serbian is a quality player and he’s been a revelation alongside Murillo so far this season.

Milenkovic was forced to miss out on the first game of the season against Bournemouth following a suspension picked up in Italy.

Since then, however, he’s instantly commanded a place in the Forest team and he’s the one who constantly marshals the back four.

Milenkovic doesn’t take second best. His act on Sunday in the closing stages shows what a winner he is and as a result it might not be too long before he’s wearing the armband at Forest
