Everton veteran Ashley Young has taken to social media to celebrate after their 0-0 Premier League draw with Chelsea on Sunday (December 22).

The 39-year-old was taken off in the 74th minute as Sean Dyche’s side secured their sixth 0-0 draw of the season, the most of any side in Europe’s top five leagues.

Chelsea dominated much of the game and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty after Jordan Pickford’s reckless challenge on Malo Gusto in the first half, ex-FIFA referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Football Insider.

But Everton arguably had the best chance when Iliman Ndiaye was stopped by a stunning Tosin Adarabioyo block, and now have some breathing room between themselves and the relegation zone, four points above Wolves in 18th with 16.

Enzo Maresca’s side, on the other hand, missed the chance to temporarily go top of the Premier League but remain in second with 35 points from their 17 games.

Young has been a key player for Dyche so far this season, starting 14 of his 16 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing three assists in 1254 minutes of action.

The veteran defender took to Instagram to celebrate a second consecutive draw against a Premier League title contender, saying: “Another Good Point and Clean Sheet.”

Everton have scored the second-fewest goals in the Premier League with 14 but boast one of the league’s best defences, conceding just 21.

Dyche’s side travel to Pep Guardiola’s struggling Man City in the early kick-off on Boxing Day (December 26).
