Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva has struggled for regular game time and failed to impress when given minutes at Molineux.

On summer deadline day, the striker joined UD Las Palmas on a season-long loan deal and this move has paid off for him.

The Wolves owned player has scored six goals and registered two assists from 15 league games for Las Palmas.

Friday’s edition of Marca had a chat with Fábio Silva’s brother, Jorge, and he insists the 22-year-old is enjoying life with the La Liga side.

“He is very happy, and I think you can see that especially on the pitch. He speaks very highly of the team, of the group he forms on and off the pitch and of the quality of the squad in general,” he said.

The Portugal international scored the winner against Barcelona and also found the back of the net in Las Palmas’ 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the league.

“It was a feeling of happiness to have managed to score against important teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid. It’s always important for a striker to score, especially against teams like these,” Jorge explained.

According to Fábio’s brother, the Wolves man made the right decision to leave the Premier League side on loan last summer. Jorge mentioned this when explaining about his visit to meet his brother in Canary Islands.

“I managed to go to see one of their games and I can say that I really liked the atmosphere in the stadium and in the city,” he added.

“I think it was the best decision to go and play in Las Palmas, because it is a very good and competitive league, and he will have minutes to prove his worth with goals and performances at the level he has had.”

According to Marca, Fábio’s impressive performances for Las Palmas resulted in his valuation increase from €11m to €18m. The report states this has led to Vítor Pereira’s side ‘rubbing their hands’, likely because they can earn more from his possible sale.

On his current market value, Jorge added: “It’s a consequence of what he is doing at Las Palmas, very good performances and goals mainly.”

Fábio’s contract at Wolves lasts until 2026 and they would consider selling him at the end of this season.
