Brighton and Hove Albion have made a verbal offer to Strasbourg for midfielder Habib Diarra to move this month.

That's according to L'Equipe, who report that Brighton have stepped forward to try and sign the young midfielder.

The newspaper reports that Brighton have started discussion to bring the Strasbourg midfielder to England before the end of the transfer window.

They state that Brighton have 'decided to launch' an effort for the 21-year-old and contacted Strasbourg about a potential transfer.

They've contacted BlueCo, who own the club, and their decision makers, to make a first oral offer of €23m for the midfielder. That would include bonuses.

However, that fee won't be enough for the French side. They expect to receive 'higher figures' if Diarra is to leave at any point.

They value him highly and know that interest in the Premier League is growing too. Everton and Nottingham Forest have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder in the last few months.

Now Brighton have made a verbal offer as they continue to try and scoop up as much young talent from around the world as possible.
