Crystal Palace fans are fearing that Chelsea have recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell after he was left out of the squad to face Stockport in the FA Cup.
This comes amid widespread reports that the Blues could recall the 25-year-old to help ease their injury crisis in defence, while Enzo Maresca refused to rule it out.
The centre-back missed out on the Eagles’ 1-1 draw with Chelsea as he was ineligible to feature against his parent club, but was expected to return for the cup clash.
As a result, it has been suggested that he may be on his way back to Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks in what would be a huge blow to Oliver Glasner’s side.
The Palace boss confirmed the loanee would start against Stockport as he shared: “It looks like we’ll start with Trevoh Chalobah back in.”
However, a number of the Palace stars including Dean Henderson and Maxence Lacroix were struck by illness in the week, and many have suggested Chalobah may have also fallen ill – the most likely explanation for his absence.
To add to the confusion, the defender was pictured with supporters at the game in his full club tracksuit as he arrived with the rest of the squad.

Chalobah has been a regular fixture in Glasner’s side since arriving on loan from Stamford Bridge alongside Lacroix and Marc Guehi in their first-choice back three.
However, injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile has led to suggestions that the centre-back could be recalled from his loan to become a part of Maresca’s squad.
Palace fans, ahead of their FA Cup third round clash with Stockport, took to social media to speculate abut the true reason for his absence after a surprise exclusion from the squad.
