A West Ham United player is in talks to leave the club this summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Hammers are undergoing a squad rebuild to align with the vision of Julen Lopetegui, who is set to implement a possesion-based style of play – totally differing from the previous regime under David Moyes.

Luis Guilherme has already been signed and it seems a striker is now being targetted, with Youssef En-Nesyri heavily linked.

The club are also working on outgoings and they’re in talks to sell a David Moyes signing.

Flamengo board in England to sign West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta

West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been heavily linked with a move to his former club Flamengo over the last 24 hours.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation as he reports that the Brazilian club’s chiefs are in England to discuss a deal to sign the 26-year-old.

Flamengo are eager to sign him on a loan deal but evidently, West Ham are only interested in a permanent one as they look to recoup some of the £51m they outlaid on him.

Talks are expected to continue this week and it seems like both parties have a willingness to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

West Ham unlikely to receive half the amount they paid for Lucas Paqueta

Flamengo’s record signing is Gabriel Barbosa, who they paid £14.8m for from Inter Milan.

So based on that, it seems any permanent deal for Paqueta is likely to be no more than £20-25m as history shows they can’t really outlay any more than that.

Even then, it’d smash their club record signing by quite some distance, so perhaps they might even pull the plug on negotiations if West Ham play hardball on a fee or price them out of it.

It’s understood that Paqueta does want to leave the club, so that could lower his asking price.
