On Wednesday, Globo Esporte reported SC Internacional are in talks with Celtic over a deal for Alexandro Bernabei. It was also suggested Brendan Rodgers’ side would further reduce his price, after reportedly lowering it from €10m to €5m already.

Back in March, Celtic allowed the 24-year-old to join the Brazilian club on a loan deal until the end of this year.

The Celtic man played 25 games in all competitions for Internacional and his displays have convinced them to retain him beyond this year.

Brazilian journalist JB Filho, relayed by SC Inter, now provides the latest on the Argentine.

He claims the South American club ‘seek to define the future’ of the Celtic owned player’s situation.

The fullback’s deal with the Scottish champions lasts until 2027 and Celtic have requested €5m to sanction his sale.

JB Filho explained Celtic’s demand is high for Internacional and therefore, their board are ‘trying to negotiate’ a new loan deal. The possible agreement will depend on the Brazilian club’s talks with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

In other words, Celtic will have the final say and if there’s no agreement, Bernabei will have to return to Celtic Park.
