Coventry City have submitted a third bid for Swansea City skipper Matt Grimes, with a deal close to being agreed, according to Wales Online.
The Sky Blues appointed Frank Lampard as their new boss and have seen a turnaround in their form in the Championship.
Coventry’s hierarchy are ready to back Lampard in the transfer market and they are focusing on certain areas, with defensive midfield being one of them.
Lampard is keen on adding Swansea City's captain Grimes and Coventry have submitted two bids, which they have seen turned down.
The 29-year-old has featured in every single game for Swansea this season and the Wales outfit are not too keen to let him go.
However, Coventry are determined to sign him and have launched a third bid to secure the signature of Grimes.
The Swans have set a £4m price tag for the player and it is claimed that an agreement is close to being reached.
Grimes joined Swansea in 2015 from Exeter City and has featured in 333 games for the Wales outfit.
Coventry are also in the market for an attacker after a deal with Rangers for Rabbi Matondo collapsed.
