Arsenal star Declan Rice took to social media after scoring in the team's 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

The Englishman opened the scoring in just two minutes, finishing off a cross from Gabriel Martinelli, which was laid on by Kai Havertz.

The Martinelli-Havertz duo linked up again for the second goal, as the German striker powered a header past the goalkeeper. Skipper Martin Odegaard sealed the win with a third goal—his first from open play since last April (2024).

Despite the victory, the match could've taken a dangerous turn, as Rice was hit by objects thrown by the Dinamo Zagreb crowd. Ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett urged UEFA to take action in response to the incidents.

However, the 25-year-old remained in a positive mood on social media after the crucial victory.

Arsenal need stars like Declan Rice in top form

Rice celebrated his first-ever Champions League goal after the 3-0 victory. He shared the moment on Instagram with a caption: "first UCL goal feeling" accompanied by a picture of his celebration.

He has been a key figure for Mikel Arteta's side this season, making 29 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing five assists.

Arsenal finished the night in third place in the Champions League standings. They are firmly in control of automatic qualification for the next round.

However, they survived an injury scare during the game. Gabriel Magalhaes was on the receiving end of a tackle deemed "ridiculous".

The club will need to avoid any more injury scares to players as they enter a crucial part of the season.

Football Insider Verdict

Rice has been a monumental signing for Arsenal. With his versatility in the '8' position, he's now adding output to his game.

Arteta has seemingly found the right role for him. With rumours of Martin Zubimendi arriving in the summer, this position may well be his long-term one.

If Rice continues his development as a box-to-box midfielder, there are certainly many more goals to come.

In other news, Nottingham Forest are battling Arsenal for one of their transfer targets this January transfer window.
