Aston Villa have opened talks with goalkeeper Filip Marschall over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

Marschall, who has come through the ranks at Villa, is currently impressing on loan at Crewe Alexandra in League Two this season.

The 21-year-old is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Villa Park.

He made his first-team debut last November in Bosnia and Herzegovina against Zrinjski Mostar in the Europa Conference League group stage.

The former England Under-19 international has since moved out on loan to Crewe in League Two.

He has helped keep eight clean sheets in 25 appearances for Lee Bell’s side and has been instrumental in their push for promotion this season.

Marschall, who came through the ranks at Villa, is currently out of contract in June 2027.
