Exclusive: Cardiff loanee agrees permanent move to York City

Cardiff City defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott has agreed terms to join York City on a permanent deal subject to medical, sources have told Football Insider.
Fagan-Walcott has impressed at National League hopefuls York after joining them on an initial season-long loan in the summer.
The former Tottenham youngster has established himself as a key player in Adam Hinshelwood’s side, making 19 appearances in all competitions.
His performances so far this season have helped York to reach second place in the National League, despite them having finished 20th last time out.
The 22-year-old made just one senior appearance during his time at Tottenham in the Champions League against RB Leipzig, spending a spell on loan at Dundee before leaving Spurs in 2023.
Since joining Cardiff as a free agent that same summer, Fagan-Walcott has made just three senior appearances, but has now found a stable home in the National League.

York narrowly missed out on relegation from the National League last season, with just one point separating them from Boreham Wood in the final relegation place.
However, a surprise turn of form this year has seen them rack up just eight fewer points than last season’s total before the half-way point of the season.
That form has been thanks in large part to their new-found defensive structure, in which Fagan-Walcott has established himself as a crucial presence.
The central defender has started 14 league games this term, including each of their last eight, and the club have moved quickly to secure a permanent deal for his signature.
Hinshelwood’s side have conceded just 20 goals from their 22 league games so far this season, helping them tally a league-best goal difference of 24.
