Exclusive: Luton table yet another big-money bid for Wycombe star

Luton have made a third bid in excess of £5million for Wycombe striker Richard Kone, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship side made an initial approach for the in-form striker on 22 January, and saw that bid rejected.
New Luton manager Matt Bloomfield joined from Wycombe in place of Rob Edwards, and has returned to his former side in an attempt to sign the Chairboy’s star man.
Kone has scored 14 goals in 27 appearances for Wycombe in League One this season, Carlton Morris is Luton’s top scorer with seven Championship goals.
Despite the sizeable fee, Kone would be a difficult player for the Chairboys to replace mid-season, and losing him would be detrimental to their promotion push.
Luton boss Matt Bloomfield pushes to sign former striker
The Hatters have only managed to outscore Plymouth and Stoke this season, and Bloomfield has identified Kone as a solution to their goal-scoring woes.
Kone joined Wycombe from Carshalton Athletic, a ninth-tier side, and after a slow first season, has hit the ground running this year.
The Ivorian striker is lightning quick, and has shown his ability to be more composed in front of goal this season, both attributes that are lacking from Luton’s current striking options.
The Chairboys will be keen to hang on to their striker, and Kone signed a two-year contract extension in 2024 [BBC Sport].
In terms of outgoings, Allan Campbell is currently being pursued by a number of Scottish sides in the January transfer window.
In other news, a Luton Town striker may be heading to join Wrexham this January.
