Ever since Ange Postecoglou was appointed as Tottenham Hotspur manager, Pedro Porro has improved dramatically, a manager who really understands his skill-set.

Porro now plays an incredibly unique role for Tottenham, often looking like a number 10 when Spurs are in possession high up the pitch.

Of course, Porro is still able to adapt his game to more traditional roles at full-back too, as he did for Spain over the break.

With Dani Carvajal injured, Porro was brilliant for Spain, starting in both of their games over the break.

Although, these performances are beginning to catch the eye of the likes of Real Madrid.

That being said, TBR Football understands that Tottenham are 'aware' of the growing interest in Porro, who they'd be loath to lose.

Tottenham planning Pedro Porro contract talks after Real Madrid interest

Given his strong performances, Spurs are very happy with Porro, who arrived at the club from Sporting Lisbon back in January 2023.

As mentioned, Porro has a very unique attacking skill-set, one that Jose Mourinho wasn't quite able to get the best out of.

But Porro's recent form has put him firmly on the radar of Real Madrid, who are doing their homework on multiple options at right back.

As well as looking at Porro, Madrid are looking at Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James, Jeremie Frimpong and Juanlu.

The Galacticos are looking ahead to next summer and see Porro as someone who could replace Carvajal after his long-term knee injury, in similar fashion to how he has for Spain.

Tottenham are well aware that Porro is on Madrid's radar, and they are also not surprised given his form and are unmoved by the interest.

In fact, Tottenham are open to tying Porro down to a new long-term deal in the new year. Porro's current contract runs until 2028.

Tim Sherwood was so wrong about Pedro Porro

Of course, amid all of Porro's success, it's interesting to revisit some of Tim Sherwood's previous comments about the full-back.

Whilst watching Porro during his Spurs debut against Leicester City, Sherwood said Porro was 'so bad it's unbelievable'.

Sherwood tore into Porro's positioning, comments which were as distasteful as they were premature.

It's become clear that Porro is an asset because of his attacking qualities rather than his defensive knowhow, something Postecoglou understands.

And although Tottenham fans won't even want to humour the thought, it's clear to see why Madrid would see Porro as a player who could thrive at the Santiago Bernabeu.
