The summer transfer window may have only just closed, but there's already half an eye on the market opportunities that will arise next summer.

Indeed, there are plenty of stories circulating about players who could make moves next year.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is perhaps the biggest transfer story heading into 2025, while there are a number of other top-class players whose contracts are up at the end of the season.

The likes of Mohamed Salah and Leroy Sane are also in similar positions heading into next season.

Jonathan David is a player who is out of contract next year, and according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on The Debrief, the Canadian is likely to leave for free next summer.

Jonathan David is likely to leave for free

Romano shared what he knows about the 'elite' striker.

"I don't think this is a topic for October, November, December or January. It will be for the second-half of the season," Romano said.

"He will consider several things, not just financially, the project, the managers, so he's not going to decide now.

"For sure, he's having conversations with several clubs, not him, his agent, clubs in England and clubs in Italy, clubs in Spain.

"Jonathan David is one of the biggest names on the market for the summer of 2025. Again, before making any decisions, he will take his time, it's not something for now or something for 2024.

"Jonathan David will explore his options but for sure I expect him to leave Lille as a free agent."

Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with Jonathan David

Jonathan David is likely to be on the move next summer, and the big question is, which team will he sign for?

As Romano says, David's agent has been speaking to teams across Europe, but perhaps a move to the Premier League would be most appealing.

Arsenal have recently been linked with David as they continue to search for a new number nine, while Tottenham are also long-term admirers of the striker.

Spurs have just signed Dominic Solanke, so their need for a striker isn't as strong, but with Richarlison being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, a new centre-forward could, once again, be on the transfer agenda next summer.

Aston Villa are also said to be keen on David, and it would appear that there is a route open to the striker in the Premier League should he wish to make this move.

David is certainly someone to keep an eye on as we head into 2025.
