Liverpool have a ‘serious’ interest in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush and the German club will ask for €50m-€60m (£41.6m-£49.9m) for his services.

The 25-year-old joined Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2023 after an underwhelming spell with Wolfsburg but has burst into life with his current club.

Last season saw a healthy return of 17 goals in all competitions and he is on course to absolutely smash that number as he has already scored 10 in 11 games, including nine in just seven Bundesliga outings.

Unsurprisingly those kind of figures have attracted the attention of bigger clubs than Frankfurt, with Liverpool very much aware of his performances.

Sky’s Florian Plettenberg there has already been contact between the Reds and the player’s camp, with the understanding that Marmoush would be very keen on a move to Anfield.

The Egypt international is under contract with Frankfurt until 2027 so they are under no pressure to let Marmoush go on the cheap.

Plettenberg reports that the Bundesliga side want between €50m-€60m (£41.6m-£49.9m) to let him go, whether that comes in January or next summer.

The Egyptian has chiefly starred in the Bundesliga, but has scored in the Europa League, Europa Conference League and has six goals in 34 caps for his country.

It could be that Marmoush is brought to Anfield as his iconic international teammate Mohamed Salah leaves.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and there is yet to be any news on the forward signing a new deal, while Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are in the same boat.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League have been linked with moves for Salah, while Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be interested.

Liverpool have offered little by way of update on his future beyond this season, with manager Arne Slot repeatedly asked about the situation but just swatting away the questions.

Speaking last week he said: 'Same question, same answer, there will always be talks about our players, which is a good thing, because it means that they do really well.

'If they played badly then you probably wouldn't have asked, it's a good thing that everybody want their contract to be renewed because that tells me and I also see this that they do really well. But I cannot tell you anything about that.'
