Most of the claims regarding Alejandro Garnacho have been coming from the Italian media, and especially those around Napoli.

There’s been quite some excitement in the media closest to the Serie A club about potentially signing the Manchester United player.

Scott McTominay’s move in the summer was seen as a big deal but this would be in another stratosphere for them. There’s obviously the Argentina connection with Diego Maradona and others, plus the excitement of signing an exciting youngster for what would be big money.

The claims around Naples are getting stronger, although some still feel a little over-excited.

However, there’s now a statement from a well known Argentine journalist and he believes a transfer is likely on the way.

Gastón Edul, who works for the huge TyC Sports, has tweeted the following on Tuesday afternoon: ‘About Alejandro Garnacho: It is very likely that he will leave Manchester United in this market. They are looking at their options. Napoli is the team that has made the strongest advances and made an offer of €45m, but it is not yet finalised. It is the team that is putting the most pressure on. The final OK has not yet been given.’

Given the hope that was attached to Garnacho not so long at Manchester United it will obviously be a shame if he isn’t able to go on and fulfil his potential with the club, but financial pressures may be driving this one for Manchester United.

Intriguingly, Edul has added Garnacho would prefer to continue in the Premier League. Chelsea are said to want him but haven’t made an offer.

There’s less than two weeks left of the window.
