Arsenal brushed aside PSG 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League as they continued their strong start to the 2024-25 season across all competitions with a clinical performance at home.

Kai Havertz broke the deadlock with a close-range header and Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s advantage moments later as his free-kick found its way into the back of the net without a touch from anyone in the crowd.

The gulf of class between the two sides was clear as the Gunners comfortably dispatched the Ligue 1 champions to secure their first win in Europe after drawing their first game 0-0 against Atalanta.

As the Gunners put on a clinical showing at home, Clarence Seedorf believes they have what it takes to go all the way in the Champions League this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side are also in pursuit of the Premier League title after missing out narrowly to Manchester City over the last two seasons.

Seedorf feels Arsenal should be up there in the mix for the Champions League as well if they are hailed as one of the favorites for the Premier League crown.

"I believe Arsenal is a serious contender,” said Seedorf after the game on Amazon Prime.

“If you are a contender to win the Premier League, you are a contender to win the Champions League as well."

What next for Arsenal in Europe?

Arsenal’s next game in the Champions League is another home game against Shakhtar Donetsk after which they travel to the San Siro to take on Inter Milan.

The game against the reigning Serie A champions could prove to be a fantastic watch, but the Gunners will look to put away Shakhtar before that one as it would give them a bit of breathing space in the group.

Arteta’s side are undoubtedly one of the best teams in Europe and with all his players in top form, the time is right for them to announce themselves on the grandest stage by winning a trophy or two this season.
