Dejan Kulusevski was in the thick of the action for Tottenham Hotspur as they silenced Old Trafford with a 3-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Swede got his name on the scoresheet and excelled in a midfield role, with the likes of Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke and Timo Werner playing in attack due to Son Heung-min’s absence.

Kulusevski had a bit of a free role in central midfield alongside James Maddison, with Rodrigo Bentancur sitting deeper in a more withdrawn role.

Gabriel Agbonlahor liked what he saw from the 24-year-old against Manchester United and feels he needs to play as a number ten for Tottenham to see the best of his abilities.

The former England international feels Kulusevski is finally starting to find some consistency after an underwhelming 2023-24 campaign by his lofty standards.

"I thought he was outstanding and just love the way he's turned into a player who is showing consistency,” said Agbonlahor on talkSPORT.

“Last season he was poor but this season, he's becoming a lot better. He was positive, looked quicker than normal and was making the right passes.”

Agbonlahor also lauded the Swede for his well-taken goal in the second half and explained why he’s better off playing more centrally as opposed to the right wing.

He continued: “He took his goal well – people think it's a tap-in but it's clever. It's looping over the keeper. I just love the way Kulusevski wants to get on the ball and maybe not playing on the wing suits him.

“Coming in and playing in that number ten position suits him better than being stuck out on the right. Kulusevski, with his goal and all-round performance, was top!"

Manchester United simply couldn’t keep him quiet as he wreaked havoc from central areas and also drifted onto the right flank when he saw an opening.

Signed for £25m from Juventus, Kulusevski is finally starting to find some consistency and his form will come as a welcome boost for Ange Postecoglou as he aims to scale new heights at the club.
