Ibrox "legend" Lee McCulloch is wheeled out to spout the same old rhetoric when it comes to facing Spurs and Celtic

Ex Ibrox favourite, Lee McCulloch was in everybody’s favourite rag to hate, the Sun, yesterday.

Spouting about how his old side should be fearless when it comes to facing Spurs and Celtic.

Wait a second, they’re dead, so the new side, which he supports and also played for, I guess.

But wishes was still the same side as the old side, but isn’t.

Confused yet?

I know, I struggle to figure it out sometimes too.

He reckons they should be fearless?

McCulloch bases that on their recent performance at the Santiago Dingwall against the Real Madrid of the Highlands, Ross County.

I’m not joking, have a read of this:

McCulloch, 46, said: When you look at that performance against Ross County on Sunday, there is hope.

Spurs have good individual players, and they are playing in one of the best leagues in the world.

If he’s basing their hope of beating Tottenham Hotspur on their recent performance against Ross County, well, I’m lost for words.

Maybe he thinks that, combined with Spurs losing to Chelsea is the key to winning on Thursday night?

But for the life of me, I can’t figure out where he’s getting this “hope” from.

There’s being fearless, and there’s being clueless.

I think McCulloch falls into the latter category.

It gets better though, look at this:

But when it comes down to a one-off game, you're at home, it's a full house, you use the atmosphere and you're in good form yourself, then I would say, 'Bring it on'.

It's a chance to go and cement qualification and take a step closer to the last 16.

If Rangers come through it injury free, it could set us up for a massive game on Sunday against Celtic at Hampden in the Premier Sports Cup final.

For me, it's a perfect week. Rangers set it up with that result and performance in Dingwall.

Good form?

If McCulloch constitutes the recent away performances at McDiarmid Park and Ross County as good form, well then, I don’t know what game he’s been watching.

If he’s been watching these games at all?

But hey, the Ibrox side set up this amazing week with their AWESOME performance at Dingwall.

I’ll bet McCulloch has Ange Postecoglou and his players quaking in their boots?

They may as well just forfeit at this stage, and not even bother showing up.

But McCulloch can’t help himself, the performance against Ross County has totally captivated him:

The way they started the game, the speed they passed the ball at, the chances created and goals we scored, it was very convincing.

It's really set them up for a massive week ahead.

Convincing?

Well, based on that performance, they convinced me that we’ve nothing to fear from them next Sunday.

Whatever about me, I’d be interested to hear what it convinced Ange Postecoglou of?

That his Spurs side is going to be up against an in-form Ibrox side that’ll blow them away?

Apparently, the Ibrox side are in the best position they’ve been all season.

After three HUGE wins over three teams languishing in 8th, 9th and 10th in the Scottish Premiership.

Jig, as he’s fondly known at Ibrox, just couldn’t contain his excitement:

We're probably in the best position we've been in all season.

Hagi, Danilo and Hamza Igamane all got game time, and the manager has been able to rotate the squad.

Coming up are two massive games, the most important one being Spurs, because it's the next one and it's a chance to go and progress.

There are other options for the manager.

There's confidence back in the dressing room, and there's that connect back with the fans as well. So I feel it's all positive this week.

They are going into the game on Thursday night with no fear.

I’m not sure what planet Jig is on, but his side are still 11 points behind Celtic.

They are about to face an EPL side filled with top class players.

Followed by a Celtic side that remains unbeaten domestically.

And got another away point in the Champions League last night under frustrating circumstances.

He is basing his positivity on winning three games against three struggling Scottish Premiership sides.

Look, I know he has to big up his side’s chances.

But seriously?

The delusion is strong in this one.

Especially when he starts prattling on about playing for a club the size of the Ibrox side:

When you're playing at a club this size, from a player's perspective, you've got to believe you can beat anybody on your day.

And especially when there is a full stadium Ibrox out there, it doesn't matter who you're playing against.

When you've got a full stadium, and you're able to use them as your 12th man, there are teams all around the world that struggle to play in that kind of atmosphere. You've got to use that.

You’ve got to believe you can beat anyone on your day…

Which day would that be?

So far, when the chips have been down, the Ibrox side have beaten no-one of note.

Well ok, we’ll give them the Nice result, but who else of note have they beaten outside of that?

We saw what Lyon did to them at Ibrox.

The famous Ibrox crowd didn’t take long to turn mute that night.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens if Spurs score early tomorrow night, won’t it?

I wonder how noisy the home crowd will be then?

El Gran Muralla will most likely start in goals tomorrow night with Guglielmo Vicario currently out injured.

Fraser Forster is no stranger to Ibrox after his two stints at Celtic.

If there’s one man on the Spurs squad who knows what it takes to keep them out, it’s him.

Reference the 2019 League Cup final.

The last time a Celtic keeper was awarded a man of the match award before Kaspar Schmeichel received it last Saturday.

I sincerely doubt he’ll need any motivation if he starts.

In fact, I’m pretty sure Ange Postecoglou will want to start him for that very reason.

Either way, I think Lee McCulloch is getting overly excited about the Ibrox side’s chances here.

Especially when he’s basing those chances on their performance against Ross County last Sunday.

But, as I said, of course they are world beaters now after three HUGE wins in the Premiership.

Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou beware.

The end is nigh.

Yeah, right.

As for playing us on Sunday?

Well, they do have Brother Beaton in their ranks.

But I doubt even that will be enough…
