Manchester United’s interest in Patrick Dorgu of Leece is very concrete.

The Red Devils have been really weak at left-back/left-wing-back for quite some time now. One of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have even had to fill in there at times.

Ruben Amorim’s system requires high-quality wing-backs to bring the best out of everyone else, and United have been linked with several exciting names over the last few weeks.

Dorgu is the top target right now.

Manchester United are flying to Italy to try and sign Patrick Dorgu

TBR Football confirmed on Monday that Manchester United are in talks to sign Dorgu.

The 20-year-old has made a tremendous name for himself in Italy. He has played over 50 senior games for Leece since the start of last season and is destined to join a bigger club.

The Serie A side would ideally like to keep Dorgu, but Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United are ‘going big’ to sign the Dane.

TBR revealed exclusively in December that United's scouts believed Dorgu would be an 'outstanding fit' in Amorim's 3-4-3 system.

Romano claimed in a YouTube video released overnight that United officials are set to fly to Italy ‘in the next hours’ to try and complete a deal to sign Dorgu in this window.

He said: “Man United are going big for Patrick Dorgu. In this case, there are also Napoli interested. Now, it’s time for negotiations with Leece.

Man United will be in Italy in the next hours to meet, not just for Garnacho but also for Patrick Dorgu to understand the situation with Leece.

“They want something around €35-40 million (£29.6m-33.8m) for the possibility of selling Patrick Dorgu immediately in the January transfer window.”

Why Manchester United are not signing Nuno Mendes

PSG star Nuno Mendes was also on Manchester United’s wish list.

TBR revealed earlier in January that Mendes informed PSG that he would like to play under Amorim, which was a big boost to the Red Devils.

However, PSG’s big demands – TBR can reveal that it was over £50 million – were viewed as too expensive by United, who have moved on from him as a result.

Dorgu is now the left-wing-back Manchester United want, and it will be interesting to see if they can convince Leece during face-to-face meetings in Italy in the coming days.
