Brighton and Hove Albion defender Igor Júlio was offered to Palmeiras this month, but various factors stopped them progressing with a move.

That's according to UOL, who report that the Brighton centre-back was on the list of potential replacements for Vitor Reis.

The youngster has joined Manchester City, leaving Palmeiras with a hole in their side that they need to fill. They're working on that and want to target an experienced player for the position.

UOL report that several names have been approached or offered to Palmeiras in the past few weeks.

Brighton's Igor Júlio was one of them.

Palmeiras were interested in him and sought information about the defender back in December as a result. However, they learned that it would be a 'high cost' operation and so decided to pull away.

Brighton's demands aren't made clear, but they were certainly high enough to scare away the Brazilian side.

Júlio then suffered a thigh injury at the beginning of the month. He's expected to be out until the middle of this year, so that put a permanent end to the idea.

He may be a target in the future so he's a name to keep an eye when he returns from injury, but Brighton's demands and that injury put an end to the transfer this month.
