Arsenal aren't having an easy time of it in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are yet to make a signing this month, but it's not been for a lack of trying.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have been making calls about signing strikers over the past few days, but, sadly, many of their targets appear to be unattainable.

Arsenal bid for Dusan Vlahovic last week, but that offer was rejected, while, Benjamin Sesko isn't set to join Arsenal either.

Mikel Arteta needs to find another option, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on talkSPORT, there's a left-field name to keep an eye on now.

Igor Jesus to Arsenal is one to watch

Jacobs spoke about Arsenal's striker situation.

The journalist says that Sesko and Alexander Isak are unattainable targets this month, but something may be possible for Igor Jesus.

Igor Jesus has been linked with Fulham recently, but now, Arsenal could be on the scene.

"I've heard some reports in the last 24 hours that Benjamin Sesko may be available. He's a serious Arsenal target, but it's not thought he would move in January,' Jacobs said.

"Alexander Isak, no chance of getting him away from Newcastle in January either. Keep an eye on Igor Jesus, the young Brazilian, because something may be possible there in January."

Igor Jesus stats analysed

On the face of it, Igor Jesus looks like an exciting target.

A £30m-rated young Brazilian striker is always the type of signing that makes you sit up and take notice.

However, when you look at the stats, Jesus' numbers don't look all that great.

The Brazilian League, with all due respect, isn't of the same quality as the Premier League, but even over in Brazil, Jesus isn't having a massive impact.

Jesus has actually scored most of his goals in his career during his spell with Shabab Al-Ahli over in the UAE.

This isn't a player who has tons of pedigree, and he's turning 24 years old next month so he's not exactly a remarkable young prospect.

That said, Jesus does have four caps for Brazil already, so he must be doing something right to have earned recognition from the five-time world champions.

Arsenal may want to be careful when going down this avenue.
