Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has made the England squad for the first time in seven years.

On Thursday, the Spurs summer signing made the cut in Lee Carsley’s latest Three Lions squad for their upcoming Nations League double-header.

Solanke, who was injured for England’s games last month, joined Tottenham in a £65milllion deal from Bournemouth over the summer.

He has scored in three straight appearances, and now Southgate’s successor has rewarded him for his efforts with a spot in the latest Three Lions contingent.

Carsley has now spoken about Solanke, explaining what he likes about the Spurs forward and why he made the squad.

Lee Carsley says Tottenham player Dominic Solanke is ‘extremely talented’

“Dom’s a player I’m fully aware of having worked with him in the past,” Carsley told at his squad selection press conference, via BBC Sport.

“He was really close to being in the last squad but got injured just before selection. He did so well at Bournemouth and now he’s taken that form into Spurs.

“He’s got a lot of really good attributes that I really like, as well as being a really nice person. He’s extremely talented and it’s a good that we’ve got him.”

When did Solanke win his last England cap?

Solanke earned a solitary England cap as a substitute in the friendly against Brazil at Wembley on 17 November 2017, when he was a Liverpool player.

Who do England play in October?

England host Greece at Wembley in a 7:45pm BST kick-off on Thursday 10 October, before then playing Finland in Helsinki in a 5pm BST kick-off on Sunday 13 October.
