Liam Cooper has taken to social media to thank his former club for their hospitality after returning to Elland Road to watch Leeds draw 1-1 with Blackburn on Wednesday (January 1).
The 33-year-old left the West Yorkshire club as a free agent at the end of last season before joining Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia.
Leeds were unable to make his return a happy one, conceding a late equaliser to play-off hopefuls Blackburn just minutes after going ahead.
Pascal Struijk took full advantage of Dominic Hyam’s rash challenge on Mateo Joseph, converting from the spot to give his side the lead.
Daniel Farke’s side looked set for a crucial three points but Danny Batth had other ideas, equalising two minutes later after Leeds failed to clear a corner.
Burnley’s 0-0 draw with Stoke and Sheffield United’s 2-1 defeat to Sunderland mean the night wasn’t a total bust for Leeds, moving three points clear at the top of the table.

The centre-back has found some consistency since joining CSKA Sofia, starting all 13 of his games across all competition, failing to make a goal contribution but scoring a single own goal in his 1104 minutes of action.
The Scotsman spent ten seasons at Leeds, helping them earn promotion back to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa back in 2019-20.
Cooper took to Instagram after the draw with Blackburn to thank the supporters of his old club, sharing an image of himself and his family, saying: “Really enjoyed that, thank you all. MOT.”
Leeds travel to East Yorkshire to face Hull on Saturday (January) as they seek to further extend their lead at the top of the Championship table.
Farke’s side then host League Two strugglers Harrogate in their first FA Cup game of the season a week later.
