Manchester City’s latest 3-1 victory against Chelsea was an indicator they are starting to turn a corner.
Pep Guardiola is unlikely to let his City players become complacent as just last week, they lost 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain despite being two goals up.
However, Manchester City’s performance against Chelsea for the most part was impressive as they created chances for fun and controlled proceedings — traits they have failed to exhibit on plenty of instances this campaign.
In his latest press conference ahead of the Sky Blues’ must-win clash against Club Brugge, more good news came City supporters’ way as Pep Guardiola confirmed that Oscar Bobb could make a return to the matchday squad.
Guardiola said: “The guys who were there against Chelsea are available, and I think Oscar [Bobb] came back as well.”
Bobb has been unavailable since August when he fractured his leg in training.
Man City fans delighted as Oscar Bobb could return vs Club Brugge
The Norwegian international had a terrific pre-season where he put in sparkling displays against the likes of Chelsea, AC Milan, Barcelona and Celtic.
Even in City’s win against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield on penalties, the 21-year-old was arguably the best player on the pitch, setting up Bernardo Silva’s last-gasp equaliser as well.
Manchester City are over the moon about Pep Guardiola’s confirmation that Bobb is fit to play once again.
One fan wrote on X: “Oscar Bobb returning is like a new signing, really hope he can kick on and become a regular for the remainder of the season. His ability is a joke and with a run of games he will definitely stamp his place in this team.”
Another Manchester City supporter simply expressed his excitement about Bobb’s return, writing: “We have never been so back.”
A third City fan said: “Oscar Bobb is back! Finally, after five months, our starboy has returned!”
A fourth supporter emphasised that Bobb’s return is excellent news and he hopes the youngster can perform at the same standard he did in pre-season.
“Oscar Bobb was City’s best player in pre-season, he played absurdly. I hope the injury doesn’t affect the good performance he was having. One of the best news of the season.”
A fifth Manchester City fan expects Bobb to play a vital role in Manchester City’s season upon his return to fitness.
“Oscar Bobb could’ve easily been the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season, were it not for his injury. Brilliance and mentality sets him apart. Once he regains his rhythm (which he undoubtedly will), has all it takes to play a pivotal role for the remainder of the season.”
A sixth City fan wrote: “Oscar Bobb's return will feel like having a new signing!”
A seventh Manchester City fan added: “Bobb returning, [Omar] Marmoush added, [Phil] Foden and [Erling] Haaland in form. We're going to win the treble.”
An eighth Manchester City supporter wrote: “If Oscar Bobb plays vs Arsenal, I'm running on the pitch.”
Bernardo Silva said Oscar Bobb has a “very bright future”
In October, Bernardo Silva was full of praise for Bobb during an interview with Pro: Direct Soccer.
"Oscar Bobb. I think even last season, he didn't get the minutes that he deserved. But he's up there. I think he's going to have a very, very bright future."
It will be interesting to see when Pep Guardiola deems Bobb fit enough to start regularly.
The highly-rated wonderkid has the potential to become a superstar and in the business end of the season, he could play a key role for Manchester City until the end of the season.
