Manchester United have endured a poor start to the Premier League season.

Erik ten Hag’s side have taken just 11 points from a possible 24 and languish in the bottom half of the table.

That’s put ten Hag’s job under major scrutiny and it’s thought Man United have held talks with former Barcelona manager Xavi.

Whilst that process unfolds, the recruitment team are working hard on identifying a number of targets ahead of the January transfer window.

With that said, TBR Football can now reveal that Man United have made contact to sign a talented South American left-back.

Man United eye Julio Soler

TBR Football understands Man United are checking on a number of left-back options going into 2025.

United have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia within their squad, but injuries have seen both miss huge chunks of the last 12-months.

Diogo Dalot can be employed on both sides, but United's footballing department are looking at options on the left.

A host of players are on their radar, and TBR Football can now reveal a new name that has emerged in their sights in the shape of Argentine Under-20 captain Julio Soler.

Soler is currently starring for Lanus in his homeland and was recently part of the Argentina Olympic squad.

Liverpool were linked to Soler this summer

A number of European clubs have been alerted to Soler's progress and Liverpool were linked in the summer.

It remains to be seen if Arne Slot’s men reignite their interest this winter but TBR Football can confirm that United have been active in recent months, making checks on Soler – who is rated extremely highly in South America.

Paraguay-born Soler moved to Argentina as a young child and has been with Lanus since the age of nine.

The £13m-rated defender, who has ‘pure quality’ per Data Invicta, made his debut aged 17 and is already a key member of their line-up.
