Man Utd vs Brighton: Latest team news, predicted lineup and injuries
Today at 02:48 AM
Manchester United will look to make it three wins in a row in all competitions when they host Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
After encouraging performances against Liverpool and Arsenal, Ruben Amorim’s side came from behind late to beat Southampton in midweek.
Despite that lethargic performance, the Red Devils face a quick turnaround before Sunday’s clash with Brighton who themselves are unbeaten in their last six games in all competition.
United, though, will be boosted by the return of Diogo Dalot who missed the win over Southampton due to suspension.
The Portuguese defender was sent off in the FA Cup win over Arsenal but looks set to return at left wing-back where he has started every league game under Amorim.
His return should allow Noussair Mazraoui to move back over to the right side and the in-form Amad Diallo to move back into a more advanced role in place of Alejandro Garnacho.
Despite Amad’s successes, it was a tough evening for young centre-back Leny Yoro who struggled to get to grips with Southampton's lively winger Kamaldeen Sulemana down the left flank.
The Frenchman may, therefore, be taken out of the firing line at the weekend, with Harry Maguire likely to return having been rested in midweek.
Elsewhere in defence, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw appear to be still unavailable with long-term injuries, while Jonny Evans has also missed United’s last four games due to a muscle injury.
Mason Mount also continues to be absent from midfield as he works his way back from his latest injury setback at Old Trafford.
Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte were not at their best against Southampton, especially in the first half, but both could be given the chance to redeem themselves on Sunday.
Amorim, though, may wish to give Joshua Zirkzee the opportunity to lead the line from the start after his bright cameo appearance off the bench against Southampton.
Rasmus Hojlund cut an isolated figure for much of the first half and could make way on Sunday.
Predicted Man Utd XI to face Brighton
Onana, De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez, Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dalot, Amad, Fernandes, Zirkzee
