William Saliba and Myles Lewis-Skelly are not dealing with serious injuries and have not been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with Wolves, confirms Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Saliba is dealing with a hamstring problem and Lewis-Skelly a knee issue and the Gunners boss says both should be back in action next week.

Arsenal go to Molineux at 3pm on Saturday and he was less clear on whether the two will make that trip, but suggested it is a possibility.

‘With Myles it’s nothing serious, it will be having a meeting with medical staff,’ Arteta told a press conference on Friday morning.

‘With Willy something similar as well they should be in for next week, this week we’ll see how it goes.’

Saliba has missed the last two games through injury, with Jurrien Timber filling in at centre-back against Aston Villa and Jakub Kiwior playing in the middle of defence against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Gunners are a little short of options in defence, with Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu still out.

White remains out with a serious knee injury which has seen him sidelined since November, making just nine Premier League appearances so far this season.

However, the England international is close to returning to team training, which should see him back on the pitch in the not too distant future.

‘He hasn’t trained with the team yet but he is very close to doing that,’ said Arteta. ‘He will be with us really soon.’

Arteta is also dealing with injuries in his forward line as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are out with long-term issues.

On the prospect of bringing in a forward this month the Spaniard said: ‘Have I ever said no to a striker?

‘We lost two very important players in Saka and Jesus, we lack goals and options in the front, it’s clear.

‘If we can get the right player, that’s what we’re actively looking at.’
