Ipswich Town fans have backed the club to sign former Chelsea and Man United midfielder Nemanja Matic in the January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, the Tractor Boys are exploring a deal to sign the 36-year-old this month.

The Serbia international is under contract with Lyon until 2026 and Ipswich will face competition from Como, Napoli, and Fiorentina in securing his signature.

Matic has played regularly for the French outfit this season, having made 18 appearances across all competitions this season.

Ipswich are hoping to lure him back to England in a bid to add experience to the squad as they continue to fight against the threat of relegation.

Matic has made 251 Premier League appearances throughout his career, scoring six goals and providing 24 assists.
