Bayern Munich will not pay Chelsea their £65million asking price for Christopher Nkunku in this window, sources have told Football Insider.

The German giants are keen on a potential deal for the 27-year-old – who previously starred in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

But Chelsea have set their asking price at £65million and will stand firm on that figure this month and won’t let Nkunku go without a fight.

The France international is angling for a Stamford Bridge exit before the 3 February deadline.

Football Insider first revealed in October 2024 that he was "unhappy" to play a backup role to the club's other forwards.

However, it is believed Chelsea are unlikely to get their asking price for the forward in this window – and he could now remain with the Blues until the off-season.

Nkunku has scored regularly for Enzo Maresca’s side this term but his only regular game time has come in the Europa Conference League.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star, who Maresca has admitted is not an out-and-out striker, has hit 13 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions this term.

However, just two of those strikes have come in the Premier League – where he has started just three games.

Nkunku, who spent the majority of the 2023-24 campaign on the treatment table, is under contract at Chelsea until June 2029.

Nicolas Jackson has been the number one striker option for Maresca this term and has rewarded his manager’s faith with nine goals in 20 Premier League outings.

In other news, Renato Veiga sends cryptic message to Chelsea fans as exit whispers intensify.
