Pep Guardiola explains what Man City players must do to help Erling Haaland get his form back

Pep Guardiola has sent a message to Manchester City players as to what they must do to help Erling Haaland recapture his best form.
The striker has struggled over recent weeks to find the shooting boots which has seen him win back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots. Haaland has scored just three Premier League goals since telling Mikel Arteta to ‘stay humble’ and Man City have managed to win just six times in 20 matches since that incident against Arsenal.
There are now big question marks as to why Haaland has been just so poor over the last few months and Guardiola has explained what must change to get the best out of him again.
Pep Guardiola explains Erling Haaland’s poor form
Pep Guardiola believes that Manchester City need to use Erling Haaland better and it is a case of the whole team being poor rather than the Norwegian causing issues. The striker has scored just once in the last six league matches but the Spanish coach has told his teammates they must help him on the pitch.
Guardiola told the media: “It is about us, not just one player… when you have problems at the back and middle, it is all about the team, not just one player… Erling [Haaland] is so important for us, will be important for us and has been and we need to use him better.”
Haaland is one of the best goalscorers this Premier League has ever seen, however, he is not the type of player who will make things happen. The 24-year-old needs service and right now, he is cutting an isolated figure up top for City.
Can Erling Haaland’s best form return in Man City’s next run of games?
Next up for the defending champions is Everton at the Etihad Stadium. The Toffees have just held Chelsea and Arsenal to goalless draws and they will be out to frustrate City’s attacking talents as well.
Guardiola’s team should have enough to beat Everton though and make it the start of a strong run of results. They have some favourable fixtures coming up like Leicester away, West Ham at home and then trips to Brentford and Ipswich.
However, it would take an extraordinary comeback from here as City are seventh and 12 points off the top having played a game more than Liverpool.
