Lausanne-Sport’s Alvyn Sanches was linked with a move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has scored 12 times in the Swiss Super League this season and this saw him earn a call-up to the Switzerland national team.

During the ongoing international break, the forward spoke to 20 Min Zurich about his future and his plans regarding an exit from Laussane-Sport. When asked whether he’d prefer Newcastle United, AS Roma or Borussia Monchengladbach, he picked a fourth option.

He told: “I’d prefer Spain."

Speaking further about whether an increase in his valuation in the next few months can impact his future, Sanches said: “That doesn’t concern me."

He also went on to suggest that the only thing that can determine his future is playing time, with 20Min not mentioning anything about interest from Spanish clubs.

The Swiss newspaper believe he’s ruling out a move to the Premier League, so that would strike out Newcastle United, although it’s hardly going to be a huge blow for Eddie Howe’s transfer plans.

Maybe until he’s close to a La Liga move, Sanches should be advised to avoid burning his potential transfer bridges.
