Real Sociedad send a clear message to Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal over Martin Zubimendi

Real Sociedad sporting director has just announced what he expects to happen with Martin Zubimendi in January with many top clubs lurking.
Liverpool and Manchester City have shown the strongest interest in Zubimendi and have both been eyeing potential moves for the Spaniard next month. The Reds attempted to sign him last summer, however, their bid to land him proved unsuccessful.
Now, Sociedad’s sporting director has sent a clear message to the Premier League giants regarding the 25-year-old’s January transfer status.
Martin Zubimendi not expected to leave Real Sociedad in January
Real Sociedad sporting director, Roberto Olabe, does not expect Martin Zubimendi to leave the club in January. The Euro 2024 winner has a £51 million release clause in his contract which will be a concern for the Basque club, although the player has shown a willingness to remain at the Anoeta Stadium.
Olabe told Estadio Desportivo: “There is little peace regarding the clauses, but in all this time Martin himself has shown us that above the clauses are the wills. Until today we have already seen the behaviour that he has had, I do not foresee that we will have any scares in January.”
TBR Football reported last month that clubs were aware that Zubimendi does not want to leave Sociedad at this moment in time. Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been monitoring him given his relatively low release clause.
What is the latest regarding Man City and Liverpool’s Zubimendi interest?
TBR Football understands that Manchester City have made their desire to sign Zubimendi very clear and they have been to watch him this season. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool are both keeping tabs on his situation.
City are expecting big changes next summer with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne potentially leaving the club. So the Premier League champions will be keen to add big quality and Zubimendi is a midfielder which they like.
For now, the 25-year-old is keen to remain in Spain as was the case back in the summer when he snubbed offers from the Merseyside club and the Gunners. But, all hope is not lost yet as English clubs remain hopeful of eventually tempting him with moves to the Premier League.
