The January transfer window might feel like an eternity away, yet that isn’t stopping the likes of Newcastle United putting plans in place for the market.

This summer was one of the quietest transfer windows in recent memory with Premier League spending down as clubs like Newcastle were severely limited in how much they could spend due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

As a result, the January transfer window could be one of the biggest winter markets in some time, with TBR exclusively reporting that Newcastle are already interested in AS Monaco attacker Maghnes Aklilouche.

And Newcastle could now make a move for a top Premier League forward in January.

Newcastle could revive interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin

According to TalkSport, Newcastle are considering reviving their interest in Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who this season has been in top form for the Toffees with two goals and an assist in six games.

Lauded by Asmir Begovic already this year as an ‘incredible’ attacker, Calvert-Lewin was linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer, with Arsenal were also rumoured with a surprise move for the England international before landing Raheem Sterling.

Indeed, with Newcastle in the market for another centre-forward to provide competition and injury cover for Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, a move for the £40m-rated striker would make sense for the Magpies in January.

And if the Toon find themselves once again competing for European football come 2025, Calvert-Lewin could push for a move to St. James’ Park in January, even with Everton’s fortunes starting to turn around.

Calvert-Lewin could do with a change of scenery next year

Calvert-Lewin has shown flashes of brilliance during his impressive spell at Everton, with the attacker managing 70 goals in just over 250 appearances for the Merseyside giants since breaking through in 2017.

Yet with the negative atmosphere that’s surrounded Everton for some years now, Calvert-Lewin could benefit massively from a change of scenery in the January transfer window, even with the Toffees seemingly on the up with new owners coming in.

And Newcastle could be perfect for Calvert-Lewin, with Eddie Howe the ideal manager for the striker with St. James’ Park also a fantastic destination for a striker of the Everton man’s qualities.
