Arsenal have to be pleased with their start to the 2024/25 campaign with just one point separating them and Liverpool at the top.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have had to deal with a number of issues already in the early stages of this season with injuries and suspensions.

Martin Odegaard remains sidelined following his ankle injury sustained during the previous international break.

For Arsenal, there has been a lot of positives with the Gunners already setting out their defensive strengths holding the second-best record in the league.

But there is a big reliance on their two centre-backs remaining fit for the remainder of the campaign.

And it seems as if there is a confidence from Real Madrid that they could be able to break up that partnership in north London.

Real Madrid are confident of signing £27m Arsenal defender

Last season, Arsenal were able to boast the Premier League’s best defence with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes asserting their dominance.

Despite some injury issues at full-back, the two centre-backs have held down the fort in what has been another strong start to the season.

According to Le10 Sport, Real Madrid are confident of being able to prise Saliba away from Arsenal.

The Spanish giants are eyeing up a move for the France international ahead of next summer with a deal expected to be difficult.

Saliba’s camp have already been contacted by Madrid as the Spaniard’s have looked into the defender’s mood around a potential move.

With Saliba having three years remaining on his deal – two in the summer – Madrid are surely going to have to part with huge money to sign the Arsenal defender.

TBR Football understands Real Madrid sent scouts to watch Saliba in Arsenal’s recent win over Aston Villa last month.

Arsenal need to lift silverware to keep William Saliba

The trajectory in north London has been extremely positive with the Gunners pushing Manchester City at the top of the league.

However, the likes of Saliba are yet to see any tangible rewards from the impressive past two seasons from Arsenal.

And it has to be questioned whether Saliba will be looking for Arsenal to lift a trophy this season otherwise he may potentially consider his options.

Considering Madrid’s record in the Champions League, another trophyless season with the Gunners may well just make the France international think about joining Kylian Mbappe to the Bernabeu.
