The Arne Slot era at Liverpool has got off to a flying start.

The Reds are top of the Premier League as things stand having won seven of their opening eight games, while they also boast a perfect record in the Champions League too.

Liverpool's star players haven't had any issue in adapting to Slot's style, and some have even improved.

Indeed, Ryan Gravenberch has really stepped up this season, and while his attacking numbers aren't what you would expect them to be, Trent Alexander-Arnold is playing brilliantly too.

Alexander-Arnold has been hailed for his defensive improvements, and that is something that the right-back has pinpointed at Liverpool.

Indeed, according to The Athletic, Alexander-Arnold has made it clear to Slot that he wanted to improve in that area.

What Trent Alexander-Arnold told Arne Slot

According to this report, Alexander-Arnold has told Slot behind the scenes that he seriously wants to improve defensively.

Apparently, the right-back has told his manager that he wants to become the type of defender no attacker wants to face.

Alexander-Arnold has long been lambasted for his perceived lack of defensive ability.

The full-back has certainly improved on that front this season, as Liverpool have conceded just three goals in eight league games so far this term.

Alexander-Arnold needs another conversation with Slot

Alexander-Arnold has told Slot that he wants to improve defensively, and he's made that happen.

Now, the two key Liverpool figures need to have another conversation behind the scenes.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold is in the final year of his contract at Liverpool, and it's about time that he has a serious conversation with his manager about his plans.

Real Madrid are interested in Alexander-Arnold, so there may be a temptation for the full-back to leave.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Alexander-Arnold would be happy to stay at Liverpool if they show they're capable of challenging for major trophies, and, so far under Slot, that has been very apparent.

Slot has helped Alexander-Arnold improve defensively, and that's exactly what he wanted to do, and now, these two need to have another conversation about the England international's long-term future at Liverpool, and hopefully, they can thrash out a new contract too.
