One of Cole Palmer’s New Year’s Resolutions would presumably have been to help Chelsea win a major trophy in 2025.
Under Enzo Maresca, the Blues have shown that as reliant as they are on Cole Palmer, they have other players who have turned them into one of the Premier League’s most dangerous teams.
However, Chelsea are one of those teams that have a clear standout player in the Englishman, who also seems to relish the responsibility of being his side’s protagonist. Gary Neville admitted being stunned by Palmer’s ascent since heading to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023.
This season, the 22-year-old has registered 12 goals and six assists in the league, thriving under both Mauricio Pochettino and now Enzo Maresca. Maresca hailed Palmer a few weeks ago as well by agreeing that he could well be the best player in the Premier League.

Regardless of how Chelsea fare as a side this year, there seems to be no question that the former Manchester City midfielder will continue to run riot.
So much so that Rio Ferdinand has predicted the Wythenshawe-born technician to make more history this season.
Rio Ferdinand predicts Cole Palmer to repeat Erling Haaland feat this season
The Manchester United legend was asked by TNT Sports to make a few predictions about English and European football in the year, 2025.
Rio Ferdinand was asked which player will win the Premier League Player of the Season award and he replied: “Cole Palmer.”
Ferdinand was quizzed about which player he thinks will scoop up the Premier League Young Player of he Season award and he said Palmer once again, proceeding to chuckle.
The only player in Premier League history to win both accolades in the same season was Erling Haaland in 2023 after his historic debut season in a Manchester City shirt.
Haaland went on to win the treble in the same campaign as well in what was a tremendous campaign from a once-in-a-generation player.
Rio Ferdinand expects Palmer to become a part of an exclusive club by the end of the season.
How Cole Palmer outdid Erling Haaland in 2024
The revered attacker would be delighted to be etched in Premier League folklore if Ferdinand’s prediction indeed comes true.
In 2023, Haaland registered an incredible 38 goal involvements in the league.
However, Palmer amassed 39 goal contributions in the English top-flight across the entirety of the previous year.
The England international certainly has the productivity to match Haaland’s outstanding output.
As a result, there could well be some legs to Rio Ferdinand’s bold claim.
